Terms of Service · Before you get started

A temporary address, with clear rules

Keep your main inbox for what matters, and use one-time addresses within clear limits. Find out what Hushinbox offers, which uses aren’t suitable, and what you’re responsible for keeping safe.

01 · Scope

Which services do these terms cover?

These terms apply when you access or use Hushinbox temporary email, email forwarding aliases and the forwarded email archive. Please read this page before using the service. If you can’t accept these limits, stop using the relevant features and don’t send important information to the address.

Temporary email is for receiving messages for a short time. Email forwarding sends messages received by a unique alias to your login email. They are not the same kind of storage service. Details on how we handle personal information, browser credentials and email content are in our Privacy Policy. This page covers use, responsibilities and limits; it does not replace our data handling information.

02 · How the service works

The expiry shown in the tool is what counts

A new temporary email address lasts 3 hours by default. Each successful extension adds 3 hours to the remaining time. Check the inbox tool for the actual countdown and result. Clicking the button alone doesn’t mean the extension succeeded.

When you change addresses, we first request a new one and then delete the old mailbox. Once the process completes, the old address is invalidated and its emails aren’t transferred to the new one. If the page says deletion of the old address hasn’t been confirmed, the mailbox may remain active until its original expiry. Don’t assume it has already been deactivated.

To use email forwarding, sign in with an email account you control and can use to receive verification codes. Pausing an alias stops forwarding all new messages to that address, not just ads. Forwarding also doesn’t guarantee that a third-party website will accept the address or that the alias will be available indefinitely.

Retention limits for addresses, email and archives
Item or action Use and retention limits What you need to do
Temporary address and its emails Lasts 3 hours by default. Cleared after expiry or successful deletion; recovery isn’t available. Save anything you still need before it expires. Don’t use it as a long-term recovery method.
Extending or changing an address Each successful extension adds 3 hours. Changing addresses deletes the old mailbox; its contents aren’t transferred. Check the success message and countdown. Before changing addresses, make sure you no longer need the old emails.
Email forwarding alias Manage it after signing in. Pausing stops all new incoming messages from being forwarded; deleted aliases may not be recoverable. Before deactivating an alias, update the contact and recovery email on any linked websites.
Forwarded email archive View records from the past 30 days. This isn’t a permanent email backup, and deleted records may not be recoverable. Save important content in your own inbox or another place you control.

Deleting an archive copy on this site won’t recall copies already forwarded to another inbox. Temporary mailbox credentials and email forwarding credentials are separate. Signing out of your forwarding account doesn’t delete the temporary mailbox in your current browser.

03 · Choosing the right use

Consider the cost of losing access before choosing an address

When deciding whether to use disposable email, consider not only whether you can receive the message, but also whether you’ll later need the address to sign in, claim a refund or recover an account. If losing access could put your identity, money or important records at risk, use an email account you can keep control of.

These examples can help you distinguish short-term email needs from those tied to important accounts. Even if a sign-up only requires one verification code, check whether the site may later rely on that address for security checks.

Suitable for short-term email

  • Receive test emails from systems you’ve developed or are authorised to test.
  • Sign up for a short-term service or claim information where disposable email is allowed.
  • Receive a one-time confirmation when you won’t need the address for future account recovery.

Not suitable for important contact details

  • Financial, payment or medical services, or services that hold sensitive identity information.
  • Account recovery, backup email for two-factor authentication, or important identity verification.
  • Order confirmations, contracts, long-term subscriptions or work accounts you can’t afford to lose.

Before signing up for promotions, see our guide to choosing an email address for offers. If you need ongoing routine notifications, consider email forwarding—but don’t make an alias the only recovery method for an important account.

04 · Allowed and prohibited use

Reduce unwanted email, don’t bypass rules

You may use Hushinbox to reduce exposure of your main inbox, provided you act lawfully, have the necessary authorisation and follow third-party rules. Disposable addresses are not a way to get around website sign-up limits, identity requirements, bans or other access controls.

The service provides email reception and related management features, but doesn’t send email. Even if you don’t send messages directly through this site, you must not use its addresses, archives or interfaces to take part in the following abusive activities.

Allowed · Acceptable use

  • Receive verification codes, notifications and subscribed content you requested.
  • Test delivery to websites you manage or applications you’re authorised to test.
  • Use separate aliases for different websites and pause forwarding when needed.
  • Manage addresses and email through the normal interface and at a reasonable rate.

Prohibited · These uses are not allowed

  • Send spam or assist with phishing, fraud or impersonation.
  • Distribute, solicit or handle illegal content through the service.
  • Bypass access controls or platform rules, or access someone else’s email without authorisation.
  • Create addresses in bulk for abuse, make malicious high-frequency requests or exhaust service resources.

If a third party rejects disposable email, follow its requirements rather than repeatedly creating addresses to get around them. For ads you’ve already received, see our guide to unsubscribing, filtering or changing your address and choose an option that suits how trustworthy the source is.

05 · Your responsibilities

Keep credentials safe and maintain a way back in

Access to a temporary mailbox relies on credentials saved in your browser, not on proving that you own the email address you entered. Don’t share credentials, request details that contain them or browser storage data. After using a shared device, check that you no longer need the emails, then delete the temporary mailbox yourself.

Clearing browser data, switching devices or losing your access credentials may prevent you from reopening the original mailbox. Save any emails you need before they expire. Don’t treat messages in the service as a permanent archive or assume that knowing the address will let you regain access.

You’re responsible for the aliases you create and the email account you use to sign in. Make sure you still control that account, review its security settings and update contact details on linked websites before deactivating or deleting an alias. If two-step verification is available for your account, you can enable it as described in the dashboard and keep your authenticator secure.

Before submitting an address, check whether the third-party platform accepts disposable email or forwarding aliases. A separate address can help limit exposure and identify where messages came from, but it doesn’t guarantee complete anonymity or block all spam. See our source tracking guide for limits on identifying a message’s source.

06 · Availability and email delivery limits

Being able to create an address doesn’t mean every message will arrive

Email delivery depends on the sender’s website, its email provider, the network and the receiving service. Third parties may reject disposable addresses, and email may be delayed, filtered, bounced or subject to size and attachment-format limits. Hushinbox doesn’t guarantee delivery of every verification code, message or attachment, or delivery within a set time.

If a message doesn’t arrive, first check that the address is correct, the mailbox is still active and the sending website says the message was sent. You can try again as often as that website allows, but don’t make repeated high-frequency requests. For payments, medical matters or account recovery, use an official email account you can keep control of.

The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, network issues, unusual traffic or problems with external services. Don’t rely on it as your only channel for continuous availability, immediate delivery or dependable backups. You’re also responsible for assessing the safety of links and attachments in your email.

07 · Suspension, changes and contact

When something goes wrong, explaining the issue beats repeated attempts

We may limit requests, suspend affected addresses or account features, or stop providing the service if we suspect abuse, a risk to service security or a breach of these terms. We take action to protect the service and other users. If you believe we’ve made a mistake, contact support with the relevant address, when it happened and a non-sensitive error message.

Features, quotas and availability may change for security, technical or operational reasons. We’ll show the date of any terms update on this page and, where possible, explain significant changes to how the service works in a notice. Check for updates before continuing to use the service, and save any emails you still need in advance. These terms do not limit rights you have under applicable law.

Questions about these terms or reports of abuse

Email support@hushinbox.com and describe the feature you were using and the issue. Don’t include passwords, valid verification codes, login tokens or the full contents of sensitive emails.
