Why am I still getting emails after unsubscribing?
Your unsubscribe request may still be processing, or it may have turned off only one type of marketing subscription rather than every mailing list from that business. Order and security notifications may continue too. Check the sender’s actual address and the subscription category. If similar marketing emails keep arriving after the stated processing time, review your notification settings in the official app or report the messages in your email app. Don’t keep clicking unsubscribe links in emails from unknown senders.
Can clicking unsubscribe lead to more spam?
For legitimate subscriptions, unsubscribing is usually a sensible way to stop marketing emails. But malicious messages may use unsubscribe links to lure you to a website, collect information, or phish for your details. The wording of a link alone can’t tell you whether it’s safe. For unknown senders, report the message. For businesses you recognize, change your preferences through their official website or app.
Will switching to a temporary address affect account recovery?
It can. After a temporary address expires, you can’t use it to receive password resets, sign-in confirmations, or customer support emails. Don’t switch important accounts linked to your main inbox to a disposable address just to avoid ads. Before signing up, consider whether you’ll need the account later. For ongoing notifications, use an address you control long-term or a forwarding alias you’ll keep active.
What’s the difference between a 10-minute email and this site’s 3-hour default?
“10-minute email” usually refers to a short-lived disposable email service, but expiry times vary, and not all temporary email addresses disappear after 10 minutes. New Hushinbox temporary addresses are kept for 3 hours by default. The toolbar shows the actual time remaining. Each time you select “Extend by 3 hours,” another 3 hours are added. When the address expires, it and its messages are permanently deleted and can’t be restored.
Do I still need to unsubscribe if I’ve set up filters?
If you no longer want marketing emails from a business you trust, unsubscribe to ask the sender to stop that subscription. Filters are useful for organizing messages you want to keep or as an extra layer of protection. A filter only changes how your email app handles messages; it doesn’t remove your address from the sender’s records or guarantee that all similar messages will be caught.
Can I identify who leaked my address by using a different one for each website?
Using a separate address for each website can help narrow down where to investigate, but receiving one ad doesn’t prove that a particular website sold your data. Other possibilities include partners, public display, forwarding, or another source of exposure. Check your address usage history, the sender’s domain, and the message content.
