Verification codes, right when you need them
Can disposable email receive verification codes? Yes, it can receive regular email, including codes from many websites. New messages appear automatically in your inbox. Delivery times depend on the sender, and some sites may block disposable addresses.
No need to do anything when you’re finished: your address is kept for 3 hours by default. Click “Extend by 3 hours” if you need more time. When it expires, the address and messages are deleted. Use an address you control long-term for important account recovery.
Give every source its own address
Why is your inbox suddenly getting so much spam? Your address may have been scraped or exposed in a data breach, or you may have signed up for marketing emails. Using a unique address for each site can help narrow down the source, but a single message isn’t proof that a site sold your data.
See how email source tracking worksUse forwarding for addresses you’ll keep
For shopping and travel sites you use regularly, create a forwarding address after signing in. Messages still reach your inbox, and if one address starts getting spam, you can pause it. Pausing stops all mail to that address, not just marketing messages.
Unsubscribe, filter or change your addressEvery character, easy to read
Addresses and example verification codes use a monospaced font, so every character is easy to distinguish. Copy codes directly when you need them to avoid typing errors.
Frequently asked questions
How can I reduce spam?
Limit how often you share your main email address with new sites. Use disposable email for one-off sign-ups, coupons and email tests, and consider forwarding aliases for sites you use regularly. For spam you’ve already received, use your email provider’s report and filtering tools. Don’t click unsubscribe links in suspicious messages.
Can I use disposable email to receive verification codes?
It can receive regular verification emails, but the sender decides whether to accept the address, and delivery may be delayed. If a site rejects it, follow that site’s registration requirements. A forwarding address isn’t guaranteed to bypass restrictions either.
How long does an address last?
New addresses are kept for 3 hours by default. The toolbar shows the actual time remaining. Click “Extend by 3 hours” to add another 3 hours. When the address expires, it and all its messages are deleted and can’t be recovered. Don’t use a disposable address for important account recovery.
How can I stop marketing emails?
For businesses you recognise and have legitimately subscribed to, use their official unsubscribe option. You can also reduce future marketing emails by not sharing your main address when signing up for new sites. Use a separate alias for each site, then disable it if unwanted mail starts arriving. See Unsubscribe or change your address.
What should I do if my email address is exposed?
An exposed email address doesn’t mean your password has been compromised, but watch out for phishing attempts that may follow. If you reuse that password or notice unusual account activity, change it to a unique password and enable two-factor authentication. Use a separate address for each site in future. For unfamiliar terms, see the spam glossary.
Are the Amazon and Uber emails in the inbox real?
No. These two messages are marked “Demo” and only show what receiving and reading email looks like. They aren’t affiliated with Amazon or Uber. Real incoming messages will appear in your inbox, but the example verification code can’t be used to sign in to any account.
